David Pearce

David was born in Nottingham and started playing the trombone at the age of 14. His inspiration to take up the trombone came from listening to the music of Glenn Miller and his orchestra.

David is a graduate of the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester, where he studied with Chris Houlding, Robert Holliday and Adrian Morris. While at the college, he also took lessons from trombonist Chris Dean, and the late Don Lusher, OBE. He has had the opportunity to work with Jiggs Whigham, Don Lusher, Steve Waterman, John Warren, Anita Wardell, Andy Sheppard, Matthew Herbert, Pete Wraight, Julien Joseph and John Wilson. David was also awarded the “Stan Barker Memorial Prize” for big band playing and jazz improvisation.

As well as playing with the Nick Ross Orchestra, David has also worked with The Glenn Miller Orchestra (UK), and The Swing Shift Big Band. David has also worked with 'West End' singers such as Louis Hoover, Chris Mann, Andrew Kennedy, Allie Laurie, Nigel Casey and Mark Halliday with The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas show.

David was delighted to have been asked by Nick to join the band on Bass Trombone. He is equally delighted to be playing alongside some of the finest musicians in the big band business.
