Paul grew up on Portland in Dorset.
It was at this time local bass master Sam Fowler took him under his wing and allowed him to come to his house, drink tea and take informal study.
Sam and his son Charlie, a fine drummer, urged Paul to hone his craft and so he packed his bags for London where he was lucky enough to study music under Stuart Hall, Chris Batchelor, Nicki Illes, Pete Churchill and others at Middlesex University .
Since graduating Paul has become a regular on the Lon don jazz and roots scene and has performed and recorded with a diverse range of groups/artists such as Sid Griffin, Laura Cantrell, Alice Mclauglin, Paddy Milner, Steve Gribbon, Adam Beattie, Hey Negrita and The Blue Bambinos.
